Recycling

Recycling, the name of the game!

Starting with early man, waste was merely thrown out the door (if there was one) and it just sat there until an animal came upon it or it rotted.

Early in this century, town dumps took care of most of the trash generated by households. It was up to the generator to make arrangements for shipments to the local dump. This method is still used by many communities.

With the advent of Sanitation Departments, the waste was brought to the town dump by city or privately owned trash trucks. Larger communities, such as major cities, started to expand their landfill. Today, as you ride by, you see all different-sized artificial mountains. Especially noticeable are those in Florida, where natural hills are a rarity. An interesting fact has come to light in recent years. The waste disposal industry has found that there is often enough fuel in the waste hills to justify excavating and burning this material. We find that much of the trash buried fifty or sixty years ago is in the same condition as when it was discarded.

When burned at a co-generation plant this valuable trash replaces oil as a source of fuel and this power is then sold to the local electric company.

We at Mobile Shredding Corporation go to great lengths to recycle shredded paper where we do our part to save our forests. If we can't recycle it, we incinerate it at a co-generation plant and save oil instead.
